Joseph Campbell & Abraham Anderson – The Foundation of the Campbell's Soup Empire
In 1869 fruit merchant Joseph Campbell and tinware maker Abraham Anderson started a food-canning works in Camden, New Jersey – the foundation of the Campbell Soup Company. They parted in 1876; the company's greatest success, condensed soup, came two decades later under successor John T. Dorrance.
