The Circular Economy
Swedish furniture maker IKEA, a symbol of cheap goods used for a few years and thrown away, declared in 2018 that it wants to become a "fully circular" business, actively buying back its own used furniture from customers to refurbish and resell. That is the core paradox of the circular economy: persuading a company that earns money by selling more new products that its future lies in selling less.
