Kintaro Hattori: The Founder of the Seiko Empire
Kintaro Hattori (1860–1934) founded K. Hattori & Co. in 1881 and the Seikosha factory in 1892, laying the foundation of the Seiko brand. From a small watch-repair shop in Ginza he built one of Japan's largest watch companies and rebuilt it after the 1923 Great Kanto Earthquake.
